Returning after a two year break because of COVID, Friday 9 December will be the date for the Community Xmas Lunch, organised by Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club and, once again, hosted at The Sandy Lodge Hotel in Hilgrove Road.
The event, which has a limit of 120 attendees because of the space available, is a lunchtime Xmas meal with complementary drinks, mince pies, bingo and entertainment by Paula Marcelis afterwards. It is supported by local businesses, members of the Lions and the Newquay community who ensure that the cost per ticket will be just £8.
Lion Sarah Bunt, one of the event organisers, said: “We hope that, as in previous years, this is an event which enables some of our local residents whose circumstances mean their Christmas time may be less social and, for some, quite lonely, to come along and enjoy the company of others over a few hours with good food, drink and a bit of fun. Santa is also a regular visitor so we hope he has some time to help again!”
Tickets for the event are available from Newquay’s Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in Marcus Hill during normal opening hours. In the event of not being able to attend the TIC in person, please telephone the Lions direct on 0345 833 4981 to confirm if tickets are still available and how these can be reserved.
