Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Charter Night 

Saturday 15 October 2022 – 7pm for 7.30pm

Our Charter Night this year will be the first we have had since 2019, with 2020 and 2021 being put off by COVID. We chartered in October 2008 and, therefore, we will be celebrating the completion of our fourteenth year of service, of which we are very proud.

Our friends at Newquay’s Sandy Lodge Hotel have provided us with a splendid four course menu (see below – five courses if you include the tea/coffee) and The Qwest Party Band, who have headlined our Newquay Beer Festival every year since 2013 will be getting everyone up dancing. Tickets for the evening are £35 per head.

I intend our charter night to be a fun and friendly occasion where the interaction of our fellow Lions, friends and supporters is the most important aspect of the evening. Therefore you may be disappointed if you are looking forward to long speeches! Also, in order that all Lions and the friends who support us feel comfortable, there will be no formal dress code, so both black ties and casual attire will be mixing alongside each other.

It should be a great evening and you can also stay over in one of the newly refurbished rooms for £35 bed and breakfast per person. Again, great value.

We will happily do our best to assist with any requests to sit with friends and the Sandy Lodge will accommodate dietary requests including vegan and gluten-free needs. Just let me know if you need this when you reply and I will pass this information on to the hotel.

MELON: Melon with prawns in a Marie Rose sauce

PATE: Chicken Liver Pate served with Crostini and Red Onion Chutney

SOUP: Homemade Roasted Butternut Squash and Red Pepper Soup

CHICKEN: Roast Chicken Supreme Breast set on a bed of creamed spinach

FISH: Over baked Hake fillet with a tomato and chive sauce
