This weekend, nearly one hundred people gathered at Newquay’s Sandy Lodge Hotel to help celebrate Newquay Towan Blystra Lion Club’s first anniversary Charter night.
The annual event, which celebrates the official charter date and successes of the year involved not only members of the club, but members of other Lions Clubs and organisations and guests. This included groups from across the whole County, and even from as far afield as Dursley, Rochdale and Oxford.
The celebrations were also attended by Newquay Mayor Cllr. John Fitter, and District Govenor Christine Rowe who all enjoyed a four course meal, tombola, auction and entertainment from local singer Shane Soloman.
Matthew Bunt from Newquay Towan Blystra Lions said “It was a great evening, and as a Club we were really overwhlemed and grateful for the support of our fellow Lions, friends and family that came to support us. An enjoyable evening was had by all, and Shane managed to get everyone on the dancefloor with some great music.
“We must say thanks to everyone that also contributed items to our Charity Auction and Tombola, which raised nearly £700 – all of which will be used locally to benefit local people and organisations.”
