Once again Newquay Lions, with the help of the new Towan Blystra Lions, hosted 29 deserving families from as far afield as Liverpool, Rochdale, Manchester and Dover as well as a few from closer to home.

All of the families are selected and sponsored by their local Lions club and visit Newquay as guests of the Newquay Lions.

The holiday is growing each year and this year all 131 holidaymakers have had a brilliant time at Hendra Holiday park, visiting local attractions and enjoying the fantastic facilities the park offers.

Organiser Andy Hannan, explained the idea behind the week.”All of these families have had a really rough time in previous years, some have lost loved ones or have children with serious, life limiting illnesses, others have severe learning difficulties.

“Our aim is to give them a break from their everyday routine and the chance to spend time together as a family. For some of our families this was their first ever holiday together, some had never even seen the sea.

“It is hard to believe the difference this holiday can make to some of our guests until you see it first hand.”

Mr. Hannan was also very grateful to the local organisatons, and businesses that volunteered their time and services to make everything possible.

“I would like to give a big thanks to all at Hendra, especially to Matt Way, the park manager, without his help the holiday just wouldn’t work and to all of the other business supporters in the Town.”

“It was also fantastic to see the 2 Lions clubs working together on this project and I would like to thank all the Lions for their support during the holiday.”
