Newquay Youth FC Under 14s Mints team have been together since they were seven years old and, all the way through, have been kindly sponsored through the funds raised by Lion Matt Way and the appeal he set up to help others after the death of his son, Joe, in 2008.

With these funds having been managed for the past few years by the organisation in which Matt is a member, Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club, the final tranche of the amount earned through his efforts was used to buy another new kit for the boys, together with a top-up donation from the Lion’s Community Fund.

Manager of the team, Shaun Middleton, said: “We really appreciate this as the footballers are a great group of local boys. Keep an eye out for them in the future.”

Lion President, Jill Bunt, came along to a training session and posed with the team and their new kit, which proudly shows the Joe Way ‘Paddle for Life’ logo on the front and the Lions logo on the rear.
Jill said: “Lion Matt’s ‘Joe Way Paddle for Life’ raised around £160,000 since 2008 and this has all now been distributed over the years to some great causes. Our Lions Club are delighted to also be able to contribute to this long-standing support for the Mints.”
