Five members of Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club were pleased to be able to lend a hand at Cornwall’s oldest continuous sporting event at Newquay Harbour on Sunday 30 July.

After making a donation to the Newquay Harbour Sports Association towards the costs associated with running the two hours of water-based sporting activities in the water on the harbour beach, Lions turning up to do what they could on the day seemed like it could be good fun – and it was! With numerous events including surf board paddling, two-person canoeing, one-oar skulling of small boats and conventional swimming races, competitors from ten years old through to senior adults received medals for taking part.
