It won’t be long now until the big day and Santa has once again decided to get out and about around Newquay and the surrounding area to share a bit of festive cheer before Christmas Eve.

With the assistance of Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club, who will be providing some of their elves and the special sleigh Santa needs for such tours, bells will be heard loud and clear on most evenings between 1 and 19 December. On Thurs 1 December, Santa will be at St Newlyn East for their annual lights switch on and, the next day, he will be switching on the lights at Nansledan. Then Santa embarks on ten nights touring various streets of the town and even puts in a day-long appearance outside Morrisons on Sunday 18 December.

The details of the routes will be announced very soon at www.newquaytowanblystralions.org.uk and also be announced daily on Radio Newquay – so listen out! On the evenings of the tours, you can also follow Santa’s progress live at www.newquaysanta.com.

Lion Colin Wellington said: “We know how much Santa’s trips around the communities of the town mean to everyone he comes into contact with and it’s always a highlight of our year to be the group he has asked to help him on his way. So many people also generously put a bit of cash into our Lions collecting tubes which enables us to add to the amount the Lions can then use to support local good causes. We always judge the success of Santa’s tour by the number of smiles on faces but any added bonus by the way of donations is always welcome.”
