Over four days in Nottingham, as one of 29 county teams from across the UK, they played 10 matches against rival counties, and six of the ten team members won at least one rubber, and all but one of the team won a game at some stage during the tournament (and that player lost a game agonisingly 15-14).
The event organisers and officials were impressed with the attitude and sporting spirit of the young Cornish team who were selected from across the county – each of the team fought for every point and proudly represented the Duchy.
At their end of season presentation outdoors at Cornish Lavender near St Agnes, Lions Lesley Baize and Phil and Jill Bunt were delighted to accept an invitation to come and be formally thanked for the donation off £300 and hear more about how Cornwall Youth Badminton enhances the sporting opportunities for young people across the county. They were presented with a mounted photo of the team to add to the messages of thanks received.
