Final preparations for next week’s Newquay Beer Festival are now well underway.

On Friday we picked up the rental van from Dash Drive at Redruth who, for the second year running, supported our good causes so generously with a great rental deal. The van is so important to us with all the running around we do to get essential items to Hendra Holiday Park where the festival is held.

Nine casks of ale are now already on site being kept cool for us by Hendra in their cellar. Just 41 still to be delivered/collected plus 50 ciders, two lagers, a whole variety of Cornish Gins from Atlantic Distillery and loads more including zero alcohol beers and ciders.

Sunday, we’re finishing to unload our store so that we can get a flying start first thing on Tuesday when the marquee goes up and things really start to take shape. Lion President Jill Bunt has already been updating and replenishing a load of the back room stuff which is now neatly boxed and piled in the lounge awaiting transport to Hendra as you can see in the photo.

This last week running up to the event is always a big commitment from all our Lions and friends who help us. Each one is a total volunteer and receives no personal benefit from the event other than their own satisfaction at having helped raise money for local good causes and putting on a party which so many people enjoy.

If you are joining us, we really look forward to seeing you next weekend. Don’t forget, there’s also Johnny Cowling at the Beer Festival marquee on Wed 21 Sept in support of Chrissie’s Sunshine Appeal.
