Local legend Johnny Cowling kept over 100 guests laughing and dancing at a recent event, which raised a large sum of money for an important Cornish charity.

Over 100 guests attended the event at the Glendorgal Hotel, which was organised by Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club to raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance.

As well as Johnny’s usual brand of humour, singing and entertainment, he also conducted an auction and raffle. Prizes included 18 holes of golf at Woodbury Park in Devon, and a tour of Pirate FM amongst others.

Newquay Towan Blystra President, Lion Phil Bunt said: “It was a fantastic night with well over 100 guests turning up and enjoying that typical Johnny Cowling music and humour.

“Everyone was generous with their donations and taking part in the raffle and auction meaning that we took well over £1,000 on the night.

“We’re using this money to donate to the Air Ambulance Trust which means that, since July, we will have provided them with over £4,000, a sum which has funded a state of the art laryngoscope for use by the paramedics.”

Lion Phil added: “A big thank you needs to go to Brock at the Glendorgal for his efforts in helping this event take place and to everyone who assisted on the night and donated raffle and auction prizes.”
