It’s not often you get chance to celebrate a 100th birthday, but that’s what the Lions of Newquay Towan Blystra will be doing on October 6 as Lions Clubs International reaches this auspicious milestone, and all are invited to come along.
The California Hotel at Pentire, Newquay will be the venue and all proceeds from the charity evening will go to three local groups who provide services for those less fortunate in the area. Soul Food Kitchen, based at The Newquay Centre in St Michaels Road; Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends project and The Wave Project will all be supported by the Lions as a result of the evening.
Towan Blystra Lions will also be marking their ninth anniversary on that evening with a special line-up of great music from The QWest party band, a four-course meal and loads of surprises. Pre-booking is needed and the cost of tickets is just £28.50 with the option to stay the night at the California with a full English breakfast the next morning for £35 per person. The fun gets going with arrivals at 7pm and tickets can be obtained by emailing Lion Lesley at britgooseuk@hotmail.com or ringing 0771 806 4999. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, card or BACS.
A spokesman for Towan Blystra Lions said: “We’ve had a lot of interest in the evening already and so we are sure it’s going to be a great night. We are very proud to be part of an international organisation that is 100 years old and being able to use a celebration like this to help three very worthwhile groups in our community.”
