Lion President Jon Collins shared the following message to everyone in December 2025 after some very sad news:
It is with a broken heart that I inform you that Lion Lesley Baize MJF passed away peacefully in her sleep last night at Treliske hospital with Lion Danny by her side.
Lesley was an incredible woman who achieved a great deal for our club over the years often unnoticed, working in the background to ensure that everything we did was a success.
When I took over as President in July I was given the privilege of being able to award an MJF to one of our members over the course of my two year tenure in the role. For me there was one outstanding Lion, who in my opinion should have received the award some time ago and that was Lesley. As I mentioned in our last meeting at the Griffin, I would have wished to present the award at an appropriate occasion, however following Lesley’s diagnosis only a matter of weeks ago we decided that there was no time to lose and Lesley was presented with her MJF at Treliske Hospital.
Our love, thoughts and prayers are with Danny and Lesley’s family. Rest in Peace Lesley as you move onto Higher Service whereby I know you will be doing a great job as you did for us at Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club over the past 10 years x
