Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club have welcomed a new member to their ranks and he’s looking forward to getting involved straight away by helping Santa on his tours of Newquay in the next few weeks.
Dave Brooks, who lives in Newquay, will be well known to some through his voluntary work as a presenter and fund raiser with Truro Hospital Radio (CHBN). He was formally incorporated as a Lion at the club’s November meeting at The Griffin Inn when Lion President Jill Bunt presented him with his certificate of membership and Lions badge. Jill said: “Dave has been helping us for a year now and it’s only been COVID and our inability to meet personally in a safe way which has meant his membership has only just taken place. I recall him supporting Santa as an elf in driving rain last year and if that didn’t put him off joining us then I know he will be someone we can rely on to help and support others which is what Lions is all about.”
Dave said: “I am looking forward to being part of a team serving the Newquay area and giving something back to our community. I’ve already booked my evenings to help Santa this year but am hoping that the weather is a bit better than in 2020!” Don’t hold your breath Dave!
