Final cheque brings total donated to £5,445.00.
Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club Treasurer, and SW District 1st Vice District Governor, Lion Phil Bunt has presented a cheque of £825 from the club to go towards the Lions Brain Tumour Research Appeal. The national Lions appeal is working in partnership with Brain Tumour Research to raise £1 million to help fund game-changing research and raise awareness of the impact of brain tumours.
The cheque represented the final amount raised by Phil through sponsorships received for him running this year’s London Marathon in April. Through his Just Giving page, £4,620 was raised and the additional £825 was paid into the Lions club account specifically for the Lions Brain Tumour Research Appeal making a total of £5,445 going to the charity.
Receiving the cheque at the District 105SW Governor handover in Cullompton on Sunday 27 July were Past District Governors, Lions Fred and Lesley Broom. Lesley said: “This is such an important appeal the Lions are involved with and with a target to raise £1million, donations like this are so gratefully received.”
