Newquay Towan Blystra Lions welcomed two new members to their club at their February meeting.
Husband and wife, Tony and Sioux, who live in the Porth area, first met up with members of the club when they visited last year’s Lion’s Newquay Beer Festival and saw, first hand, the friendship, fun and raising of funds for good causes the Lions are renowned for.
Sioux, a fitness instructor and nursery nurse, said: “I asked about how we could help the community and the Lions invited us along to one of their meetings. We were made to feel very welcome and, after getting involved in some of their events, we became Lions ourselves.”
Tony, who is the director of an estate agent company, added: “Having been inspired by attending the Beer Festival, I’m now delighted to be helping the club organise the 2025 event. It’s amazing how much is involved but I’ve now seen, first hand, how the club operate and make grants to really worthwhile local causes with the money they raise. I’m looking forward to playing my part.”
This year’s Newquay Beer Festival is on 19-21 September and super saver tickets go on sale between Fri 4 and Mon 7 April. Visit www.newquaybeerfestival.co.uk to find out more.
